LAWNCARE AND LANDSCAPING DONE THE "BEAUXQUE WAY"

Please reach us at Beauxque@beauxqueofbrllc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

In Southern Louisiana, where the climate is typically warm and humid, grass tends to grow more vigorously compared to other regions. As a general guideline, it is recommended to mow the grass about once a week during the growing season, which typically lasts from spring to fall. However, the frequency of mowing can vary depending on factors such as the specific type of grass, weather conditions, and personal preferences.

The best time to water your grass in Southern Louisiana is early in the morning, preferably between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. There are a few reasons for this:

    1. Minimize evaporation: Watering in the early morning allows the water to soak into the soil before the heat of the day increases evaporation rates. Watering during cooler temperatures ensures that the water has a chance to reach the roots and benefit the grass.

    2. Prevent disease: Watering in the morning allows the grass blades to dry out during the day. If you water in the evening or at night, the grass blades remain wet for an extended period, creating a conducive environment for fungal diseases to develop.

    3. Preserve moisture: Watering early in the day gives the grass enough time to dry out before evening, which reduces the risk of excessive moisture that can lead to fungal problems. Watering in the late afternoon or evening can leave the grass wet overnight, which is not ideal.

It's worth noting that these guidelines are general recommendations, and you should also consider the specific needs of your grass type, weather conditions, and any local watering restrictions. Additionally, observe the condition of your lawn and adjust your watering schedule accordingly. If the grass shows signs of drought stress, such as wilting or browning, you may need to water more frequently or increase the amount of water applied.

The frequency of fertilization for your lawn depends on various factors, including the type of grass, soil conditions, climate, and the specific fertilizer being used. As a general guideline, most lawns in Southern Louisiana benefit from fertilization approximately four to six times per year.

Warm-season grasses, such as St. Augustine Grass or Bermuda grass, are commonly found in Southern Louisiana. These grasses have active growth periods during the warm months, from spring to fall. Therefore, it's recommended to fertilize warm-season grasses about every 6 to 8 weeks during the growing season.
